Be Bold: Autumn 2026's Colour Trends, and How to Wear Them with Fur

Be Bold: Autumn 2026's Colour Trends, and How to Wear Them with Fur

Autumn 2026 is the season the beige finally blinks. Here is what the colour forecasters, paint houses and designers are calling for this year, and how to bring it home with texture you can actually touch.

Goodbye greige, hello saturation

For the best part of a decade, the safe British living room was grey, then beige, then a warm "greige" somewhere in between. This autumn the mood has turned. The big paint houses have all gone deeper and braver for 2026: Dulux named a whole family of blues, The Rhythm of Blues, running from a soft grey-blue through a vivid cobalt (Free Groove) to an inky navy (Slow Swing). Graham & Brown chose Divine Damson, a saturated wine-red designed to wrap a room. Lick's colour edit, Return To Play, reimagines the primaries, and Little Greene has leant into glowing, sunset-inspired tones.

Even Pantone's pick, Cloud Dancer, a calm soft white, is being used by designers as the quiet backdrop that lets a single bold piece sing, rather than as an invitation to go all-neutral.

The autumn palette, colour by colour

  • Deep blues. From cobalt to near-black navy, blue leads the year, often paired with green for rich blue-green schemes. Try it with our Cobalt Blue and Royal Blue fur cushions.
  • Wine, berry and burgundy. Deeper reds are back as accents that add depth and warmth when the evenings draw in. Our Wine fur is exactly this mood.
  • Emerald, olive and moss. Greens are moving from walls into furniture. See the Green, Olive Green and Teal cushions, or go all in with the Tapered Leg Bench in Green.
  • Amber and burnt caramel. Forecasters describe amber replacing classic brown on walls, floors and furnishings. Pair it with our warm Camel and Brown furs.
  • Terracotta, rust and golden yellow. The earthy, autumn-leaf end of the spectrum, best used on one wall or one statement piece.
  • A shot of hot pink. Not on every forecast, but it is the dopamine colour that makes all of the above feel joyful. Our Hot Pink fur on a leopard sofa is our favourite way to prove it.

Maximalism goes mainstream

"Dopamine decor" and maximalism have moved from Instagram into ordinary homes. Interior trends expert Johanna Constantinou of Tapi Carpets & Floors sums up 2026 simply: more is more. Expect rich colour, bold pattern and layered, collected rooms that look lived in rather than staged.

Two painting techniques are driving it:

  • Colour drenching: one rich hue across walls, woodwork, ceiling and sometimes floor, so the room feels wrapped rather than painted.
  • Colour capping: painting the ceiling a different shade or tone, a playful "fifth wall" that frames the room.

Texture is the new luxury

The other half of the story is touch. Designers are layering plush carpet, sculpted wood grain, bouclé and deep-pile textiles because a strong colour looks richer on a surface that catches the light. Long, curled Mongolian lamb fur is the ultimate example: every curl throws its own highlight and shadow, so a single saturated shade reads as a dozen tones.

How to be bold without regretting it

  1. Start with the soft stuff. Cushions, throws, rugs and bedding let you test a colour for a season before you commit a wall to it. A trio of fur cushions on a sofa is the lowest-risk, highest-impact change you can make.
  2. Pick one hero, then echo it. Choose a statement colour, say cobalt, and repeat it two or three times around the room: a cushion, a print, a vase.
  3. Use contrast for depth. Mix shades from the same family (wine with blush, teal with duck egg) and add small dark details, such as matt black legs, to sharpen the scheme.
  4. Keep a calm base if you need one. A soft white or ivory wall, the Cloud Dancer approach, lets a hot pink sofa or a green bench do the talking.
  5. Let pattern join in. Leopard, florals and large murals are all part of the 2026 look. Fur and leopard is a pairing we will never tire of.
  6. Light it warm. Saturated colour glows under warm lamplight on autumn evenings, so swap cool bulbs for warm ones.
